The stupidiest thing about this show that makes no sense

There's one thing about this show that is so over the top stupid that it kills the whole show.

Okay when these guys go to the experts to get the item appraised, they then try to sell it to the SAME people who just appraised it. This is so freakin stupid and here's why. Now if you were really a collector and wanted to buy something from these guys, wouldn't you lowball the value of the item? Seriously think about it. Why would an appraiser say something is worth a lot of money then immediately go into negotiations? It's so stupid its unbelievable. Granted, I know stuff like this is scripted but at least make it realistic.

I don't have a problem with it. Allen Haff is pretty well known dealer in the LA area and has a working relationship with the people he has on the show. In addition - they ask them what it will sell for on the open market. Anyone would realie they would know that is not what the dealer will pay for it.

I think everything is scripted and planted. The guns are prolly owned by the experts anyway. The shows producers borrows these items to have a entertaining show. When they are doing the negotiating, sometimes they have a smirk cuz they prolly feel silly 'buying' there own stuff back.

"It's so stupid its unbelievable."

The only thing "so stupid it's unbelievable" about this show is all the idiots watching it that don't even read what it says on the screen straight out at the start of every episode. Basically it says that this show is about their best finds and that it contains REENACTMENTS. Duh, the show never claims to be real and therefore isn't trying to be realistic. Those negotiation scenes are solely for a chance to talk about the item and convey information to the AUDIENCE. Surprise, it's a T.V. show. It's for entertainment. Don't like it? Then don't watch.

"So stupid it's unbelievable" are all the people on this board who think they're soooo smart calling this show fake because of something they notice when the show itself tells you it's not real right from the start. Duh, way to finally catch up.

Now I've got some bad news for you all about Santa Claus.

NOWHERE in the opening credits does it say the word REENACTMENTS.

It's a stupid show, Storage Wars is at least somewhat entertaining.

They are not reenactments, they are not recreations or dramatizations of "their best finds". It is a completely scripted and staged show. It is not the job of these two gentlemen to drive around the country buying useless crap, and then selling it. If they were to do that full time for real, there would be no show and they wouldn't make any money at it. All the cool items are planted. This is not what these guys do for a living.

Here is a post from someone who claimed to be a crew member on this show:
(I am not saying this is true or false, I am just reposting it.)

Yeah, it's fake. I was working on the crew, helped load the stuff into the rooms for them to act like they were bidding on it. it just supposed to be fun to watch, nobody in their right mind would think it's real. When we went to Dallas, the extra bidders were all extras, we rented a storage place for two days, loaded the stuff into the rooms, and shot the script. The guys "bid" on the rooms, then act amazed when they find the stuff. After we got thru, we took all the stuff we got locally back to the pawn shops, etc where we rented it from. Some of it we rented in L. A. The scripts were written around what we could find beforehand that was interesting, and some of it was written in later when we found it locally. We went into the pawn and antique shops, asked what they had that was really valuable, old or unusual, and rented it from them. we did our shoot, and returned it all. Simple as that. Hell, the "North Texas" shoot (Everything is Bigger in Texas) wasen't even shot in Texas, it was filmed in Lawton Oklahoma. In real life, those storage rooms are full of crap. We had to put some good stuff in there, or it's boring. All the "storage" type reality shows are faked. We have to, or no one would watch it.

So you don't have the brains to realize when they say stories, it's re-enactments?

No surprise there.

I bed you are seriously depressed that the guy on Pickers just had a baby with his fiance.

Guess you'll have to find a new guy to drool over. (I'm assuming your homophobia is hiding something.)

Stupider would be to think that these are even reenactments. As if these two struggling actors drove around for years as a team and actually found all these items at one point, then Spike made a show to re-enact these supposed finds.

The disclaimer should read:

These are bad enactments of two douchebags finding stuff in storage lockers for your amusement.

You guys crack me up.

Same as everything on the show, the appraisers are only there for one reason, to promote themselves. To promote what they are interested in buying. To promote their business. Believe it or not, most are probably paid for their appearance!

They have to get permission from everybody they show on their show. How do you do that? By paying people a fee. When you see somebody arguing and threatening on one of these "reality" shows, do you really believe that person let them show them in such a bad light on national TV? For Free? No! Gloria Allred would have to hire 1000 lawyers to keep up with all the lawsuits. What am I saying? It's all soap opera fake! If somebody threatened you with broken beer bottle would they be able to show up at your business the next day to pick up their car? NO!!!!!! You'd call the police and they'd be cooling it in prison an hour later. Heck, you have video proof! Why aren't they? Because it's ALL FAKE!

Once you start paying people on TV for anything, is it really "reality"?

Like those two clowns on American Pickers. Most of the time, even when they do admit that they made a few $1000 off a pick, if you stop to think about it, they didn't make anything if this is their true lively hood. They're 1000 miles from home, in a vehicle that gets 12 miles to a gallon, and they're splitting supposedly.

Now if you realize they are getting $10,000 an episode...are they really antique pickers, or just playing two on TV? These two guys are ridiculously obvious..look at their IMDB profiles! They REALLY ARE actors playing the role of auction hunters.

It's an indisputable fact that the girl on American Pickers was an actress they hired to play their warehouse girl. They, themselves admit this! Case closed!! Everything she does on the show is made up! They all should be paying fees to The WWE! This kind of shenanigans started with them.

The real money in the Antique and Collectibles business is servicing people who try to make a living buying and selling them. Charging fees! Rents in antique shops, action fees, EVEN storage fees, even feeding people at auctions!

It's the same thing it always has been. Go back to the gold rush, did many people get rich finding gold? For every person who struck it rich, there were hundreds who went broke! All you needed was to promote the few that did!

The real money was anybody who opened a store, a bar or a casino servicing these people! Giving then .10 on a Dollar when they did come in with a few meager nuggets! All based on the belief they were sacrificing these nuggets because tomorrow they were going to make that big find.

These storage unit auctions have worked out the perfect scam! They're not only renting, and then auctioning off left containers. What's to stop them from loading up containers with crap themselves? Not a dam thing! No law against it!
