Why use a 7 shot Colt pistol?

If you're gonna be in a Mexican bar shootout, why use a low capacity .45?
Get an FN Five-Seven with 20 shots, just as effective.
The movie seemed like a giant ad for various gun manufacturers, they kept using different weapons in every scene, from custom AR's to FN-SCAR, different pistols, different submachine guns.

There is no real reason for Breacher to have used that pistol. It just looks better on film because he is dressed like a modern day cowboy and the .45 pistol is kind of a modern day cowboy pistol.

FN Five-Sevens are expensive whereas a Colt .45 (and similar designs based off a Colt .45) have been around for a long time and have been produced in massive quantities, which could be cheaper and more available for him to get. He might have picked up that gun in Mexico or on the way there through the black market or so while an FN Five-Seven would be harder to acquire and probably easier to trace as not many places have the FN gun or that special ammo while .45 ACP is everywhere. the Colt .45 is a reliable weapon with a nasty bullet and he needed that Colt .45 to do real damage at close range. It may be his favorite pistol as he is an "old school" kind of guy and a Colt .45 is an old school weapon.

.45 ACP is a great kinda Person-Stopper.
M9, HK P46 got bigger magazine, however they need 3 shots to make the enemy stop moving, M1911 only need 1 shot.

It was actually a Kimber.

Like dykesy30 said, it's not a Colt it was a Kimber Custom TLE II with a 9 round extended magazine, you can see the magazine extends past the handle of the gun by about an inch in the scene where he holds the gun under the guy in the bathroom's chin. Any other .45 with a double stack magazine would have been my choice in that situation, but I think they wanted to show him as an old school Operator in that scene. And most guys like that prefer an all metal 1911 style .45 over the modern "tupperware guns". Of course it would have been more effective if they did'nt have him running around with a Glock 22 as his sidearm the whole movie and then suddenly switch.
