PLot about the money made no sense

Why couldn't Arnold make an agreement with his team? let's steal 20M. I need the 10M for my personal revenge, you split the rest. I mean, what's another 10M?

reply

They probably didn't have time. Their bosses were on their asses during the raid. I guess Breacher could have figured a better plan but it's not like he expected his team to start getting killed.

See you at the party, Richter!

reply

There's an even easier solution. "Guys, we're going to steal from the cartels to fund my revenge to fvck with the cartels." Done.

reply

I agree. Or even: "Guys, let's split this $10 million seven ways. (Or eight ways, whatever). I should be able to bribe Mexican cops with $1.25 million as well as with $10 million. To them, it's a lot of money either way. In American dollars. Yeah, that should work. $1.25 million in exchange for information about my family's killer. I shouldn't have to cheat all of you and make you distrust and kill off each other."

I used to do drugs. I still do drugs, but I used to, too.

Arnold does state that his team prevented him from getting his revenge as well as tried to get him to let it go. So to me if he tried to make that agreement I would think his team members would get in the way and say you have to let it go which obviously he couldn't do. Also the ending seemed tacked on because producers prefered to not make Arnold a badguy like he orginally was so they decided to go with he took the money for revenge instead of greed which is what the orginal endings seemed like he did. It feels like it was like that they wanted to make him seem like he intended to steal the 10 mil without thinking there would be backfire to his team being killed off.

reply

Yeah... That's one of the plotholes that doesn't make much sense, and I am absolutely sure that he could have just had what 1.75 million dollars and given that to the Mexican sherrif and that would have been way more than enough for him to tell him who the killer was... So he could have just taken 10 mill and split it even stevens with his co workers and still be in business

I am who you once thought of becoming but realised it wasn't all that it was cranked up to be

reply

But they only took part of the money.Alot of that money
burned into the fire.

So how much millions were there in all?

And i can't figure out how Arnold stole the money.

He seemed to be with the team all the time.

Did they seperate at one point before going
down to get the money?

reply

If I don't remember incorrectly there was 150 million dollar in total so they figure taking 20 mill wouldn't be noticable, they probably coulda gotten away with more tho but they needed some of the money to be left cause some of the money wouldn't burn up or be slightly burnt or whatever...

I guess they seperated at some point and decided to go back the day after or at night when they weren't on duty anymore and go get it, and he went there by himself at some point

I don't think you're ready for this jelly 

reply

And after he stole the money why didn't he just go seek revenge straight away, like before anyone gets any wind of missing money, or at least straight after the investigation of him clears. It was a suicide mission either way to go down to Mexico solo to take out some cartel members..It's not like he had loose ends to tie up (no family, dog, whatever).

reply

This is exactly the discussion I had with my son after we just watched this movie. "Why didn't he go immediately after the heist?" What was the point in waiting for the investigation????...which he had no idea how long it was going to take. The only thing different between going immediately and going when he did was now his team is dead.

reply

why didn't he just go seek revenge straight away
I think the investigation started pretty fast, and from that point on he was under constant surveillance, even when going to the bathroom. At that point, knowing his team wouldn't break and having friends in high places, his best move was to wait it out.

Nobody could foresee the bloodbath that would ensue so you can't really put that on Breacher. Not saying it's a perfect answer, just that they did try to address it.

wait for iiiit

I like the movie, but I agree... Shows what happens when the studio chop the film up and make you change the ending, I guess!
