I'm not that bright and I simply don't understand. Please help.

I'm no genius - admitted. So if you've got insults, poke them up your ar*e.

Granted, I was dog tired when I watched this, but I didn't understand the following:-

Lizzy killed all the other team members, right?

So what about the Guatamalean SF guys who killed the bloke who was living in the woods - Tripod, was it?

Was that actually just her and sugar? If so, why show a flashback, actually illustrating these guys doing it. If they were contracted to kill him, who paid them and why? Was it the Cartel?

And who dumped those guys in the river... and why?

Sorry, but it just seemed a bit all over the place and I think I missed quite a lot of the subtlers stuff.

Saying that, I did quite enjoy it.

My take:

Sugar and Lizzy hired those guys to kill tripod, once done Sugar and Lizzy killed the hired cartel guys and cut off their thumb to use their prints to show the cartel was doing the killings. They left the one guy dead at Tripods place for proof of which cartel was doing the killings. Also they killed that one guy by nailing him to the ceiling, the same thing that cartel would do. They then put the remaining dead cartel bodies in the lake so no one could find them.

Cheers Dude. That makes sense.

reply

he's absolutely right, but it most certainly does not make sense.
this movie is ridiculous.

Why would Lizzy/Sugar pay anyone to start killing the team? And what did they use to pay them? Arnold (Breacher) had the stolen $10 mil.

reply

They hired them to kill the team because they were pissed someone stole the 10 million. Lizzy says it towards the end when she was in the trunk. Breacher says, you killed my team, why? She responds simply, they took my money. All the stuff I put up with and they took my money and didnt know where it was... Then Breacher says he took the money, she was shocked to hear this. So obviously they didnt expect Breacher of stealing the money...

Dunno where the money came from to hire these killers.

reply

They did hire them. Monster told Agent Brentwood they were the best assasins you can get for money, so she hired them and killed them later.

reply

The Cartel sent the original 4 assassins as revenge for stealing the money. The only one with a flashback was Tripod because he was the only one the Guatemalans killed. Lizzy and Sugar must've found out and tracked them down (probably through her drug contacts, considering she was an addict). In their minds since the Cartel sent killers then that confirmed the team (or at least one member) did in fact have the money and had cut them out of the payday. So they killed the assassins, but took up the job of killing the team while searching for the money.

reply

I didn't get it either. RV guy became minced meat without any interrogation, so somehow they must have known he didn't stash the cash. Then why bother killing him?

For me, the most troubling thing is the money. If it was blown up, there's no way to be sure how much is missing. And if you had ten million bucks plus the absolute loyalty of an elite team, why screw it up and get them killed if all you wanted was revenge?

Mind you, they nabbed a cartel chief, so what how tough would it be to get the name of an enforcer? Nonsense ending too, going into the bar without body armour.

reply

Yeah the timeline of the killings is a bit confusing. Assuming the mercs were the ones who killed Tripod, it would mean that Tripod was already dead for quite a while before he was found by Breacher and Caroline.

Somehow I prefer the version where Sugar and Lizzy do all the killings, and they kill the mercs and plan whatever evidence necessary at each crime scene to make it look like the mercs are after the team. But then the flashback wouldn't make any sense if that's the case.

I might watch again to check but I thought then order of deaths was 1) train vs RV, 2) ceiling nailer, 3) man in woods. So how could anyone have cut off thumbs of guys in 3) to plant evidence for 1) and 2)?

I rea;ly liked the film apart from this and a few issues, genuinely amazed at how negataive people are here. I thought it was Arnie's best role since T2 and Predator.

The guy in the woods was the first one the Guatemalans killed, because he was by himself so they thought he would be the easiest.

We know it was the Guatemalans who killed him because one of them was found dead at the scene. He didn't look like he'd been there a few days, but that's a different movie goof.

The Guatemalans then went after the next target on their list. Since the woman and the black guy were secret lovers, evidently one of them (probably Terrence Howard) was the target they picked. The woman probably walked in on them, and the 3 on 1 odds shifted quite badly against the Guatemalans.

This then leaves the woman and black guy with 3 perfect patsies. They can finish the Guatemalan hit-list and kill the rest of the team, but the only suspects will never be found (unless someone goes fishing where the bodies are dumped). This leaves the villains clear of suspicion.
