Any "Four Seasons" songs you wish had been included??

I'm pretty sure it was not in the film, but for me, "Big Man in Town" would've been one-??- just thought it would've worked great for the story...

Good point; it's those songs that work best since they haven't been over-played on the air waves. And often times the more obscure songs are the ones that hit closer to home for the musicians in question.

"Dody" and "Let's Ride Again" come to mind. Dirty lyrics and metaphors for a supposed clean cut band.

"Let's Hang On (To What We've Got)" was a pretty glaring omission.

It was an absolutely huge hit when it came out and is also a pretty dynamite stage number with the huge-sounding fuzz guitar.

It also would have been a perfect background song for the segment of the film where they're struggling to keep the group together.

"Let's Hang On" and "Candy Girl"- good ones!

The four top hooks from 1965:

"Day Tripper"
"Satisfaction"
"Lets Hang on"
"All Day and all of the Night"

"Let's Hang On" would have shown the Seasons at least making some attempt to hang with the front line of the Beatles/Stones in trying to move rock music away from the bubblegum of the early 60s and more toward "hard rock" as we know it today, and also would have given Tommy DeVito one moment to shine as a guitar god, playing into Frankie's later quote, "you could be a good musician if you put your mind into it."

I was disappointed when they skipped over "Candy Girl". It was an early hit and always a personal favorite of mine. I still have the 45 rpm. "Marlena" is on the flip side.

Me too! "Candy Girl" played during the cake cutting at my wedding reception. I would have loved to hear it in the film. Also, no one sings "I've Got You Under My Skin" like Frankie Valli. I've loved him since I was 7 years old.:)

 One of the top songs of the summer of 1963

 It got to #3 on the charts that year.

"Big Man in Town" is credited at the end, but I don't recall it ever being used. Maybe it was deleted.

I'm partial to "Tell it to the Rain" and "Beggin'".

I don't know how the scene with the fallout at Gyp's home didn't have "Lets Hang On" in there somewhere.

reply

Actually, Nick Massi did leave the group just as "Let's Hang On" was released which would have made it even better for the sit-down scene at Gyp's.

I've read interviews with Charles Calello and Joe Long. Maybe their memories are fuzzy but from what they say, Nick up and left after a gig in Allentown. Neither revealed what actually happened. They brought Charlie in and he stayed appx. 6 months then left because he preferred the studio. Tommy was the one who recommended Joe Long. From what they say, Nick was gone by "Working My Way Back to You", and if you listen, there is something different in the background vocals. It sounds like Nick's voice is missing. I think he would have been gone by "Lets Hang on". I believe it was Charlie who said that he was on "Lets Hang On" (The recordings were studio musicians, anyway), but Joe joined the group by the time they appeared on Ed Sullivan.

What I don't like about the movie is that both Joe and Charlie get mentioned but there is never any interaction with them. The timeline of events frustrates me.
