Unlike MESRINE and 36 this film was not in cinemas where I stay so I bought the DVD for £12.

I like a cop/crime film and have enjoyed lots of French ones over the years.

But this was not very good,the plot was predictable and the acting was uninspired.
It is a story of a real life gang from the 1970s to today,but the historical background is poorly handled.

The cars and clothes look wrong and although I am not a gun nut but I don't believe French gangsters had AK 47s in the 1970s,ex French army stuff and even ex FRench resistance maybe?

MESRINE is a much better film,with a clear plot and good historical detail.

Aside from the details you comment on what this filmed lacked was more time in which to develop the characters. Splitting Mesrine into two parts enabled that which is lacking in Gang Story and it suffers as a result. Otherwise it was good with lots of twists and turns with deals and double deals and the actors were good too. I would have liked to know more about Serge and Momon than the film allowed.

Just ordered it for 5 euros so it'll be interesting to compare to Mesrine

I thought it was pretty good.
Agreed, it wasn't all that surprising and it covered most French gangster stereotypes such as the gypsies, the Greek, the Sephardic Pied-Noir with his North African and black henchmen...I was actually waiting for the Corsicans to pop up.
Aside from that it was very entertaining, didn't skimp on the violence, had a decent plot and featured extremely good acting.

Enjoyed this movie very much. Good-looking, talented actors, and a great movie. Have watched this many, many times, and each time it gets better to me.

This one needed a mini series to stretch it out, too much happens in a short period of time...its a lot like Mesrine, Carlos and Romanzo Criminale
