Gérard Lanvin absolutely commanded the screen
Wow, I can't believe Lanvin wasn't nominated for this flick... even though the movie had a few hang-ups and loose ends, Lanvin absolutely dominated every second he was on screen.
That one scene at the end when he's in the detective's office and he's told about a situation involving a rat... oh man, his stare alone told a thousand stories and yet gave nothing away. Now THAT is acting.
The film was pretty good, but Lanvin really carried it to new heights. This was like to him what The Godfather was to Brando.
