Ending - beware all whom enter this thread, there be spoilers ahead

I was hoping that it was a different guy in the cage, that Julia Roberts had captured the wrong chap. When he sticks his hand out of the cage to touch Ejiofor's face, I wanted it to dawn on him that the guy in the cage was just some other dude, and that the killer was who he thought it was all along.

That would have given us more interesting options on how the story could conclude. In fact I was surprised it didn't go down that road.

I was never one to hold grudges. My father held grudges, I'll always hate him for that

I saw the original so I knew the twist was coming. But I'm not sure why you think your ending would have been superior.

The point wasn't that Jess had made an error of identity. The point was that she had become so embittered and obsessed for thirteen years with making her daughter's murderer-rapist suffer.

True but could u imagine if it wasn't even the right guy lol

But, they all knew who the right guy was back then. She wouldn't have misidentified at that point.

I thought it was a very strange ending. I couldn't think of anything worse, lying in bed at night and knowing there's a murderer in your shed. Wouldn't she have had some fear?
Also I'm really going to miss these threads :(
