Suburgatory Has Jumped The Shark

With the latest episode that aired on 26 March the show has taken a nose dive. The latest trend in Hollywood to try and revive a shows popularity is to throw in some over the top Glee-esque skit. Malik's proposal to Lisa at school was just stupid and desperate script writing.

It's abc's fault completely too. They killed the show.

You know the end (of quality at least, if not the whole series) is coming when they introduce a new child to cute up the show. The new Shay kid is the harbinger of doom in this case, just like all of the new kids introduced in the last or second to last season of 80s sitcoms (Full House, Growing Pains, Family Ties). Suburgatory has sealed its fate with Victor.

it's when characters have a baby that they jump the shark, IMO. An adopted kid isn't so much a sign of decline, IMO

I have never seen the show before and I walked in my friends house whose roommate was watching it on demand. I was like Chris Parnell and Ana Gasteyer? What is this? She said Suburgatory. And then I see Randy Wagstaff from The Wire perform (was he actually singing?) a song in one of the worst scenes I have ever seen. So bad I had to come here to see how fans of the show felt about it. Oh man that was just terrible. "They're in high school? He's proposing? I'm supposed to believe this could ever happen in a high school? What the hell is happening here?" All questions I asked her.

Thank you for mentioning he's Randy Wagstaff! LOL I'm only discovering this now. He's great on both shows.

Ha ha. I always thought this show was lame mainstream nonsense.

Ive never watched Glee and this is the reason why - super camp and super unrealistic. and it was clearly someone else singing.

Someone should start folding the flag. At least they had a few great episodes in the beginning.

A lot of people didn't like that but this is the way I saw it; it was a proposal. Proposals are big and lavish sometimes and that's exactly what that was. I didn't see it as anything outside of that.

i had to fast forward, and was wondering if I should watch anymore, it's a guilty habit this show... ;)

Though I miss a few characters at this point. Get tired of George's love life or Tessa's mentality sometimes.

while i technically agree w/ everyone on this thread (the musical ep was pretty silly) i have to say this ep was actually one of the more interesting/enjoyable eps from this entire season (which is saying more about how bad this season has been).

what happened to this formerly excellent show?
