Not bad, but not Wonder Woman either.

To my great surprise, I don't hate this. It is *not* Wonder Woman as we know her and I see why it was cancelled, but taken on its own merits, it doesn't stink. Adrianne Palicki has exactly the right look for this and she isn't a bad actress.
The changes to the character are interesting. It is like they blended Wonder Woman and Iron Man. She is the head of a corporation which is her support system for her activities as WW that makes its money through marketing her image, but it's a strange image. *This* Wonder Woman tortures and kills. That is a pretty radical departure from her character and one I *really* can't get behind. The lasso seems to just be a lasso. To get at the truth she twists arms.
This first episode doesn't discuss her origin at all, so I have no idea where they were going with that. There is a passing reference to her being an Amazon and about genetic differences from the rest of us, but that is as far as it goes.
I don't know how many episodes exist, but I would like to see what others there are. I could see myself liking this show if the character *wasn't* supposed to be WW.

I rather liked the idea. Maybe it's just bad writing and I'm reading more into it than there really is, but it seemed to me that the vibe they were going for is exactly the one that people are complaining about; that in this universe, WW is a tremendously rich, astonishingly popular person who uses the power that gives her in order to take down the "bad guys" whilst insulating herself from the legal consequences.

We're used to seeing the "evil corporation" that does whatever evil stuff whilst using money, political power, and PR to get away with it. Here, WW is essentially one of those corporations, using their exact "evil" methods, but in service of what she sees as good. I find that interesting because it's potentially fertile ground for all sorts of things - just how much can she get away with? Just how much is she willing to do to achieve her goals? What about the people she harms or kills in the process - like the infamous death of the security guard - does that weigh on her conscience, does she simply dismiss it as the price to be paid, or what? What happens if a new administration opposes her or her popularity falls? What if she takes on an opponent who is actually not so evil after all?

This isn't to say I thought the pilot was perfect or close to it (what pilot is?), but there was the germ of a really interesting idea there, I thought.

Maybe it's radically different from WW as seen in the comics and such, but I never read comics so I really don't care about that at all.

Cancelled is also the wrong word to use about it, the proper word would be denied, considering the only thing you got was a completely unfinished proposal, who was only meant to be viewed by the staff of the network.
It was never meant to be viewed by the general public at all, which also practically did not happen before after they already had chosen to deny that proposal.

But it does how ever make you wonder, why the producers and writers then where not allowed to fix everything that the staff of the network did not like and then create a second proposal for the show, where everything that they did not like had been corrected.
That is usually the normal procedure on how they do it at other television networks such as CBS, you get a second chance, but obviously not at NBC.

But OK, NBC is also not exactly famous for producing high level good quality entertainment, where its about the supernatural and superheroes.
Yah, i know you now will try to throw Grimm and Heroes at me, but honestly, compared to other shows from other networks, then these two are only mediocre productions with a rather low entertainment value.
