It put the Hawke-Delpy films to shame

The Hawke Delpy films not only bored me to tears but reminded me of the very worst dates of my life: conversing about vague abstractions instead of relating, especially physically. Angels dancing on the head of a pin.

This film was brilliant. It took out the possibility of a physical interaction so that all that was left was the soul, how easily one interests, repels, needs, can be hurt by the other.

The filmmaking itself was fascinating from the first frame. I wanted to see it. I loved the odd angles, the harsh contrast, and the way it worked with the excellent musical score.

In the end, it's all about courage: knowing how much love can hurt, but taking that step. This movie should have won awards, instead, it will win the discerning heart, the greater victory by far.

I loathed My Dinner With Andre and all the Hawke-Delpy series. I did like The Trip and I like this one.
