Legions.

i dont think this has been mentioned yet... but remember when theyre walking to the cave toward the end and he says that theyre legions? well he's def referring to demons. there's a story in the bible, in Mark 5:9 when Jesus talks to a demon who has possessed a man and Jesus asks him his name. the name says , " My name is Legion, for we are many." I def think its a reference to that. So the "beings?" are def demons. But im still completely confused as to what happened at the end

What I am gathering is the beings at the end of the movie accompanied by the bright lights are demons. They have (for whatever reason) picked out these woods to be their stomping ground. At the end, the demons took their souls.

The bigfoot isn't good or evil. I think they were just trying to warn Drybeck at the beginning to gtfo because demons were about... they also helped save Robyn from impending doom. However, they seem to be driven to kill when people get mad. Remember how Noah was having a tantrum when that tree was in his way out? Reason I think a bigfoot killed him is because the bright lights associated with the demons were not around. Also, the bigfoots followed the guys into the cave but didn't kill Drybeck until he lost his cool in the woods.

Just a theory. "Found Footage" leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

I gotta agree with the demon perspective. The hairy legs that stomp into the cabin and pick up the camera at the end look like cloven hooves.

I caught the reference to "Legion" as well, but I would be more inclined that the end creature(s) were extraterrestrial in nature, rather than something demonic. Not that I have any hard evidence to support my claim, but those bright lights just seem more in place with UFO's and whatnot.

[Never trust anyone that posts on only one IMDB board.]

I believe that there were lights when the curly headed dude bit it.. they looked yellow and were off to side as he was spinning around..couldve possibly been sunlight glare tho.

while i get the OP's point
saying "they are legion" as he did in responce to the question he was asked is just an old way of saying alot of people.

based off the "we are legion for we are many"

they ask him who would want to steal it and his answer of they are legion basically means alot of people

however thats in the sence of the film
the writers probably did put it in as a sneaky little precursor to the big reveal later

I thought he was just using the phrase as a way to say that there are many of them.
