An obvious rip off of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and House of 1000 Corpses

DIfferent setting, perhaps, but the same basic idea. The ending is almost a play by play repeat of TCM. The girl escapes from a room of psychos intent on doing something horrible, jumps through the window with 2 of the psychos chasing her and one is slicing up her back, seems like she's going to get help from a random person, then gets into a random persons care and gets away while one of the psychos swings a weapon at the car and screaming.

House of 1000 Corpses was itself a blatant and more or less admitted rip off of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

However, that's not necessarily grounds to dismiss it outright. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn't that great of a film, and I wish my fellow horror fans wouldn't be so unwilling to admit as much. Everyone is so quick to point out how groundbreaking and influential and atmospheric it is...and they may well be true...but these accolades don't preclude it from being a rather poor film. I think we could use a good rip-off, then again, I really liked The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. In fact, I think it trumps its predecessor, the 4 in the original series, and the Texas Chainsaw reboot.

All that being said, Butcher Boys is not a good flick, not because it's a rip-off of TCM, but because it's a poorly told story with very little focus or vision behind it.

It's written by the Scriptwriter who wrote the original "TCM". It's more or less a spinoff.

While I haven't seen this film, I just thought I'd point out that Kim Henkel did write the script. He of course co-wrote the original TCM, and wrote the 4th entry. From other TCM fans I've talked to, this film contains numerous call backs to the earlier series, in particular TCM 4.

I remember maybe a year or two before TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D (2013) went into production, Kim had plans for a new TCM film that he was really excited about. I'm not sure why it wasn't chosen over what was eventually made, but it's a good chance Kim rewrote the script into BUTCHER BOYS.

So BUTCHER BOYS could at one point have started out as a TCM 5 script.
