Gray, grim, and slow

I'm thru with Season 1, and I feel like I've invested a lot of time for mostly nothing. I love history, read mostly history, and also sci fi. I know Philip K. Dick is a great sci fi writer, but this show just drags. Sorry to those of you who love it.

Philip K. Dick's novel is much shorter. The show has a lot of fillers and significantly changes what Dick wrote. Basically the novel would be enough for a good 2-hour movie but not for an extended multi-season show, so that's why there are fillers.

One should say that the show is loosely based on the novel, not a faithful reproduction of the novel, which is an astounding masterpiece.
