Why would rick take a picture directly under the waterfall..

He grabbed his camera, looked up into the waterfall which was pouring water down and took a picture. Not only did he probably ruin his camera but the picture is probably ruined because of the water.. He could have just taken the picture from inside the truck and it would have been fine..
I have to return some video tapes.

I could do that with my camera and not ruin it.

If you were watching the episode, you would have heard Hugh say "It's alright, it's waterproof". Not only that, but it would have been physically impossible for Rick to take a picture from inside the truck.
