I'm here! I was also wondering why this board was so dead....for such a MASSIVE game.

this game didn't lead up to it's potential.. imo

Ian Malcolm: it is so important for you future that you don't finish that sentence!

what do you prefer, this game or hot pursuit 2?

The game was really underwhelming. The premium cars are very comparable to Forza 3, and let's not even talk about the standard cars. A big dissapointment.

Got a question.

How on earth do you get the car that you want.
I'm after standard cars such previous versions of Honda Prelude. They're in the ultimate Gran Turismo 5 car 1000+ car list (GT website), but how do I purchase them during gameplay?

I've been to the used dealership and there's only around 20 cars there, and Car dealerships doesn't have these kind of cars. What happened to the rest of the 800 cars?

reply

The used dealership changes every now and again, so just keep checking back. Also the Online Dealership contains rarer cars too.

Why IS this board so dead? I need a place to vent, so here goes:

"The premium cars are very comparable to Forza 3..."

Agreed. The track graphics and physics are on par or worse than Forza 3, and all of Forza's cars look better. Standard cars look like they were lifted straight from an older version of the franchise. You can really see the polygonal look in the wheelwells, and the door handles look like stickers.
So what if Forza only has half as many cars. At least you can see all of them in the dealerships at the same time and window shop instead of waiting for your favorite to appear. Also, Forza has unlimited paint colors and waaaay better upgrade options. And still no Porsche in GT5, but we have 30-some versions of the Nissan GT-R. Great. Plus all those Euro micro cars and Kei cars from Japan that nobody wants. At least I don't. I don't dream of driving a Daihatsu Move.
The only advantages I'd give GT5 are the seasonal racing section that changes every few days, and the Top Gear test track. But even some of those seasonal races require a specific car. I have leveled up quickly doing those, but in all cases I had to spend money to make money and buy certain cars, then upgrade them to even be competitive.
I guess I'm still glad I got GT5, it's still a decent racing game but I'm not sure what all the hype was/is about.
