What's With The Number '5'?

There are several recurring references to the number 5 throughout the film. What is the significance?

Marilyn Monroe famously endorsed Chanel Number 5.

That drove me nuts, too. The 5:05 on the alarm clock at the end of the movie!

Thanks for this...never would have tought of it myself, is Chanel the only answer?

Though your comments are well taken in general, to say that Candice was NOT pretty shows only YOUR personal preference.
She IS 'everyday' pretty. The viewer really didn't get much of a view of her naked body (compared to the men), but she is quite shapely.
And to say she wouldn't be a poster girl: maybe you should look at some of the automobile or motorcycle calendar girls, or even the women on product labels. She is definitely as pretty (and shapely) as all of them, by comparison. These are the same kind of things she posed for. Also, the weather girl position: she's prettier than a whole lot of those women.
So, what's your comparison? Amanda Seyfried?

It's a reference to Chanel No. 5, Marilyn's favorite perfume. In the 1950s, the glamor of Chanel No. 5 was reignited by the celebrity of Marilyn Monroe. Monroe's unsolicited endorsement of the fragrance provided invaluable publicity. In a 1954 interview, when asked what she wore to bed, the movie star provocatively responded: "five drops of Chanel No. 5."
