First time watching Stewart..

I have heard of her from Twilight movies, never seen any of those movies though. I always thought people hating on her is probably them exaggerating as well, but holy mother of bad acting, she can't act.

I swear, I spent most of the movie staring at her face trying to guess the kind of expression she is making. Is she angry? Is she sad? OR WHAT?

And then the cherry on the *beep* was the speech she gave after coming back to life. I was actually laughing and voicing the peasants whispering to each other saying "My god, she can't act, lets kill her again."

As far as movie is concerned. I liked the visuals, liked the nice LOTR-like landscape shots (in-fact, they were better than LOTR ones). Rest of the movie bored me.

I rated it 5/10 mostly for visuals and Theron (as always, looking sexy).

Yes, I truly did laugh out loud at this comment. She cannot act nor is she the ravishing beauty that Snow White was supposed to be.

Yep, I'm watching this now on Film 4 and can't believe it. One of the dwarves just died and she was sat over him, trying to look upset, but it came across more as her being relieved.

It's my first time watching her too. Just... awful acting.

The film is also far too long.

Haha yes, that bit bothered me the first time they show her. Snow White is supposed to be a beaut, but Stewart looked like a common prostitute high on LSD (it's the eyes).

You can blame the *beep* acting of the lead actress for making everyone watch their watches more than the movie. I enjoyed watching Theron in her role. Someone like her in Snow White role (that is, someone who can act and even over-act) would've done wonders for this movie.

jeez take a chill pill, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and we're all just voicing our own opinions here. No need to insult others just because they disagree with your views.
And it doesn't really matter how Kristan's acting was in other movies, we are discussing about 'Snow White & The Huntsman' here, so what matters is her acting in THIS movie in particular, even if her acting improved somehow in her later works, it doesn't change people's opinions about her acting in THIS movie specifically. I personally have only watched Kristen in this movie and the Twilight movies and I think her acting was very wooden, monotone and unconvincing in all those movies. But hey, that's just my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right or wrong. And just because some critics may have "praised" her acting in other works doesn't mean they're right either, like everyone else here, critics are people, and people have different opinions, and we're all merely voicing our own opinions. If you think Kristan is such a "great" actress, well then you are entitled to your opinion, but others will disagree, and it doesn't make us either right or wrong, we are all entitled to our own opinions, so the sooner you accept that fact the better.

And insulting others just because they have a different opinion to yours doesn't make you smart, it just makes you seem snotty, arrogant, self-important & hypocritical. Don't be so snotty and arrogant and learn to respect other people's opinions, other people won't respect your opinion if you don't respect theirs.

I had the opposite reaction - I was very impressed with her acting in this and thought she conveyed an extremely good sympathetic character. I was not crazy about the first Twilight movie and have never seen the others. But after seeing Kristen in Snow White I'm now looking forward to a Twilight marathon. I especially thought her speech after waking up was awesome - from that beautiful little pause when she starts with "Iron will melt" right through to the last "who will be my brother?" it gave me goosebumps. And I really felt her grief when she was leaning over Gus after he died. Kristen was awesome.

You really had me there for a second.

Sometimes it's really hard to get sarcasm online. Kudos. :D

Theron was stunning. She could have been Snow White.

Yeah, I posted a similar thing awhile back...about her stupid mouth being open the entire time... Her face is so blank and lacks any kind of emotion... Stewart looks awkward... There are a lot of young and rising new talant, who could´ve been the better snow white... One example would be swedish actress Alicia Vikander. She´s is starting to gain respectable reputation in Hollywood. Alicia is not only strikingly beautiful, with an amazing screen presance, but she is also insanely talented. I´ve recently seen her in "A Royal Affair" and I kept thinking...wow this girl really is "snow white"...if the casting director had only looked her up for SWATH... She recently gained a lot of praise for her work on "Ex Machina"... Alicia Vikander would have been a terrific Snow White! Stewart is just a blank staring, talentless, awkward, little girl, who gained fame, for an equally terrible movie franchise e.g. Twilight!

All Kristen did was breath & stare into space. Her acting in this was horrendous :/ could have picked a better actress for Snow White for sure!

Alexis Bledel would have been another great choice.

reply

Hmm, that would be an interesting choice!

Alicia Vikander? I hadn't heard the name before, looked her up. I don't think she's right for it either judging by her photos. I'm sure she's a terrific actress but she looks no more right for the part than Kristen.

reply

Yeah, she was terrible in this one.
And this coming from someone who liked her in Twilight (and who liked Twilight... it was such a great guilty pleasure, and I'm just a little embarrassed :D).
I also loved her in Adventureland and American Ultra.

But she ruined this movie for me. She just wasn't a match for the rest of the crew.

I think she is really pretty, and I think she was a good Snow White when she just stood there with her mouth closed.
But every time when she started to "act", and by that I mean when she started to make strange faces and really strange mouth movements, all I could think about is "this isn't Snow White, it's Kristen".

She just overplayed her part.

For example - the scene where she is jumping from the castle, she is standing and she is making some strange facial expressions. It's just so awful, I was embarrassed to watch.
