had to watch monster parts again in daytime because i covered my eyes

I think that the creature is deeply spiritual. In fact to him the underground lake and its waters are holy. I first thought the the scene where it kills the security guard was a sacrifice, maybe, but now it seems more like a baptism of soughts.

also the removal and collection of the eyes is ritualistic, i don't know why. maybe because it can't use his anymore, so they are a totem. but i don't think it wants to return to the world above anyway. more likely eyes are too dirty to be put in the lake, they've seen to much... lol or maybe he just has a taste for human eyeball.

so I kind of see it as a crazy half-human baptist. but the beauty of these films is that you can kind of think any thing you want because I'm sure the film makers were making it up as they went along anyway.
