Production is cheesy

Just started watching again, but the production value is terrible. Was watching "The Moving Finger". Rear screen projection worse than in the 50's! The characters are so over the top for a quiet little English village. They are all so loud and raucous! McEwan's Marple looks like she's about to jump up and start something. I really think I prefer the Joan Hickson portrayal much more. McEwan was great in Mulberry and Mapp & Lucia, but not as Miss Marple.

i agree. these productions were really poor, and geraldine mcewan quite unsuited to the role of Muss Marple.

I have just had the misfortune of watching the Geraldine McEwan version of "ordeal By Innocence".
I thought Julian Rhind-Tutt has almost perfected his imitation of Christopher Reeve's Clark Kent. Also why do the TV companies always have to include Miss Marple when that character wasn't included in the original story?

"Ordeal By Innocence" has to be my least favourite Geraldine McEwan episode, not only because they put Miss Marple in a story she doesn't belong, but also they made too many unnecessary changes that doesn't work to me at all. I don't like the idea of making Gwenda the central character and then getting her killed, that adds nothing to the story. Also in the end Marple just points out the murderer without giving any reasons.
