battletactics (or lack of it). SPOILERS

I don't mind poor acting, poor cgi or weak set decorating, unless those are REALLY bad. But what annoys me is stupid characters (ie. stupid script).

And here were many scenes that made my do facepalms one after another.

-Guys climbing cliff to Jabberwock's lair, totally defenceless, when they could have climbed to top of hill elsewhere and make descend to cave safely and fast with ropes. Or just wait there for Jabberwock to come and set trap for it. Throw stones, spears, whatever from above, lasso or harpoon it, put net to entrance that tangles and prevents it from flying...

-Guys attacking Jabberwock with gladiuses and other short/medium swords? totally unarmored? When you go to bearhunting do you arm yourself with pocket knife? No, you'll take something with bigger shaft or long distance weapons. So they should have used spears and other polearms like glaives and halberds. At least one of the gyus was wise enough to use crossbow, thank god for that.

They said that romans killed Jabberwocks almost to extinction and that I can believe. Every man had several pilums for throwing and they were well organised and armoured with big shields and had also bigger weapons like scorpios (like crossbow but bigger)

-Mousetrap in the village? With one man inside it? Come on... totally stupid idea. You could see right away that weak structure like that wasn't going to hold something as big as Jabberwock. Villagers should have built scorpios and other weapons to kill Jabberwock from distance instead of that. Only way mousetrap could have worked was to use it to immobilize Jabberwock for a moment only, which was then used to deliver killing blows from outside. Or put enough ropes and chains in it so that it collapsed upon Jabberwock and hinders it's movements.

-Guys pondering about full-plate armour? Film made it look like everyone was happy with their leather tunics and someone got an idea that metal might be good thing to cover-up with. Advancements in armouring were gradual. Those men in the village with any fighting skills/weapons should have at least chain mails or something older than full-platemails like brigandines or scalemails.

I enjoy films where all sides are equally intelligent, like one of my favourites, Michael Mann's Heat. It's enjoyable to watch professionals to compete agains each others. Here wasn't any sign of intelligence whatsoever.

I could bitch about that lightning and so on but I think this is enough for now.

Film was still 3-4/10, but could have been so much better with small changes.
