The intro song

Can anyone non-Danish understand what's being sung in the title song? The danish dialect of the singer is so strong that I can't grasp the English words. I'm not trolling. I understand that about the soft voice resembling the killer from the first season, but when all I get out of it is danish sounding gutteral noise, I personally find it to not work.

reply

I don't personally think it's as much a Danish dialect as just the "tone" of the song? I would have never guessed the song was by a Danish group if I didn't already know it.

reply

It's not so much guessing as how they pronounce certain english words like 'muted' then again to be fair a dane speaking english to me is the easiest to pick up on.

Blocking anyone subscribing to the moronic alpha/beta tripe.

It's called Hollow Talk by Choir of young believers & I bought it on iTunes. I can make out most of what is said but I think some might be 'lost in translation' from Danish to English? I don't speak Danish though so you anyone is fluent in Danish & English perhaps they know the lyrics properly?

reply

Sorry I must stop using the 'and' symbol.
Also I just assumed The Choir of Young believers are Danish, so I don't actually know which part of Scandanavia they are from.

reply

They are Danish :-)

Athhajar ma yeroon.

It's "Hollow Talk" by the Choir of Young Believers

Echoes start as a cross in you,
Trembling noises that come too soon
Spatial movement which seems to you,
Resonating your mask or feud
Hollow talking and hollow girl,
Force it up from the root of pain

Never said it was good, never said it was near,
Shadow rises and you are here

And then you cut
You cut it out,
And everything
Goes back to the beginning

I'm still working on "Resonating your mask or feud".

I found the rest of the lyrics on a Lyric Search site (reference below):

Silence seizes a cluttered room,
Light is shed not a breath too soon.
Darkness rises in all you do,

Standing and drawn across the room.
Spatial movements are butterflies
Shadows scatter without a fire.
There's never been bad, there has always been truth,
Muted whisper of the things she'll move.
And then you cut;
You cut it out.
And everything
Goes back to the beginning.
Never said it was good, never said it was new,
Muted whisper of the things you feel.

Yeah. I had that but only showed the part used in the opening. Things are confusing enough as it is!

reply

This song is a perfect example of pretentious claptrap masquerading as "poetry." It is not well served by the garbled pronunciation of the singer(s), which often descends into mumbling. After the first few attempts to figure out the lyrics, I decided to preserve my sanity by fast-forwarding past the opening credits.

reply

Exactly how I felt since season 1 episode 1 and have been doing since. Great show though

I discovered that, using VLC to watch my downloaded, subtitled copy of the show, I had to do the jump ahead command seven times to avoid the song completely. I think the audience would've been better served with an instrumental version of the theme song. I don't have the patience for a pretentious, preposterous, professional, poser of poetry.

See what I did there? <couldn't help myself> <hahaha>

reply

The song is terrible though...

He's got my foot in a food processor.

Hollow Talk was also on the soundtrack to Submarino, one of my favorite Danish films. I love anything that Jakob Cedergren is in!!!!

Let me assure you, that the song is incomprehensible, even if you understand Danish. I was puzzled too, so I found the lyrics and tried to follow the song, while reading those. It didn't help much. The singer obviously doesn't speak English at all, so the pronunciation is very approximate. It's pretty annoying to listen to it. The melody is good, and the singer doesn't have a bad voice, yet lyrics are not very meaningful, but I could even live with that. But why the hell they couldn't find a singer, who can actually do English? And how come, that no one of the filmmakers realized, that singer's pronunciation is so bad, that at moments you are in doubts what language it really is. The only line, that really sounds reasonably understandable is "And everything goes back to the beginning". Unnecessary amateurish. 👎
I enjoyed series very much though. Mainly the chemistry between Saga and Martin was incredible.
