I rarely comment here, but

OMG, this is the stupidest movie i have ever seen!! My grandma was watching it and i was forced to listen as it spouted out one cliche after another, line after lame line.

I just hope i can sleep tonight after experiencing this nightmare.

Thank you. I can't stand it when movies I could write in my sleep--hell, that I could write in *anyone's* sleep--get a reasonably decent rating, and good movies get lousy ones. Cliche after cliche after cliche. And--spoiler coming up, though I don't know how this thing could possibly be spoiled by anything--I kept wanting to tell Mathis to just stop whining over one freakin' kiss.

What ruined it for me is I felt no sympathy at all for the Lorri character. She was such a bitch. I understand she was hurt but she was way too bitter to the point that I'd rather seen Ben end up with Ava.

reply

What was she supposed to do? Give the football star a pass? She's not supposed to be hurt enough to inconvenience him in any way?

Ava was plain selfish despite her proclamations of not wanting to interfere in his life and they both acted immaturely. I just didn't see any reason for a happily married guy to take up with an old flame this way, and I found this to be a huge weakness in the story.

But the character who upset me the most was the selfish kid who, instead of being the least sympathetic to his mother, strikes out at her with this "how could you do this to ME?" crap. Good thing terns don't watch this stuff. The last thing they need is a role model encouraging them in their belief that the world is all about them all the time. No one in this film tells him otherwise, either. I think he outsulked his mom big time.

Can you tell this movie put me into a bad mood? LOL

They did one thing right - bring up the idea that the prayer that is answered with no often leads to the biggest blessings in our lives.

i thought the video at the start of the movie was going to turn into a sex tape. 

LOL. At this point in time, I'm having a hard time even remembering this movie.I have some dim recollection, but that's it. I often see responses about movies a few years after I've seen them, and this is the first time I couldn't remember the movie at all. Must have been a winner!

Ava was trying to seduce Ben back into "reliving" their "good times" in high school knowing he is married w/a teenage son. I would be upset as well if my husband kissed an "ex-girlfriend" who he wanted to marry but she up and left him w/o a good-bye. If anybody is conniving here, it was Ava; you don't try to move in on family man w/a kid, its just not right. Ben got reeled in a little bit but bounced back to reality when he realized that he loved the choices he made and was very much in love w/his wife Lorri. Ava can't stay in one place - she's "worldly" likes to travel and obviously likes to marry men w/money; she couldn't hold onto a husband (one of them she divorced I could understand he was doing illegal *beep* she's not the type to settle and she would've got bored w/Ben anyway. Point is Ben loved his wife and son, and Ava is use to getting what she wants so she thought she could easily win Ben back -- she failed. I honestly don't think Ben ever looked at Ava the same way again because she was sneaky and probably was when they were together in high school; she was always looking for an outlet that's why she dumped Ben and left all those years ago, she found something more intriguing than him. Its not love if you leave somebody w/o even saying good bye. Ava came back to bury her mum, but she also had other "agendas" on her mind as well -- like becoming a home wrecker. Sorry so long; but I've actually seen this happen in real life, it wasn't w/me but it happened to a very close friend of mine; but my friend was smart because she knew exactly what he was up to.

"I understand she was hurt but she was way too bitter to the point......"

Way too bitter? Well maybe, If it was just over the kiss. They also went skinny dipping together, as in no clothes, so I dont blame her a bit. At some point though she has to decide if she still loves and trusts her husband. If she doesn't trust her husband to be honest about what happened then the marriage is over. Personally, I don't believe she over reacted at all. I'm a guy and if I were to reverse the roles, she would be out of the house in a flash. At least temporarily until I decided what I wanted.

Ugh totally. I watched this because I was super bored, and I just couldn't get over the horrible writing.
After the kid loses the game:
Mom: "Hey, it's ok."
Kid: "ok for WHO?" *insert teen attitude*

Heyyyy good comeback, kid.

Just, ugh.

Oh come on,when the son's girlfriend says "I gotta get back to work, people will die if they don't get their latte" LOL. Some of the movies I have sit thru with my GF,...But yeah I agree with some of the other posters on here that the wife made it seem like the end of the world when all they did was kiss. Sorry but Ava (Madchen) is a burner, even if she did have more issues than a newsstand!

Even though this is an old movie I saw it for the first time yesterday. When the husband threw it back in his wife's face that although he didn't have sex with the ex-girlfriend he wanted to!!! Oh man ,I thought if they have her forgive him I'm never watching this again. I like it when the betrayed female decides she deserves better and the hubby just can't come crawling back because he feels guilty. I would have driven him to the ex's house, wished them all the best since they deserved each other and went to Bermuda with a good friend!

As for the post about her being too bitter. You're kidding right? Her husband went swimming naked with his ex-girlfriend. His wife only found out because of a slip of the nurse's tongue that the ex was with him and he crashed their truck after driving drunk. I think she had a right to be bitter.
