Well... the zombie child in forest was awesome.

It also had the worst mind flayer ever. The main villain Shathrax, the pale dude with mouth sewn shut and red jewel stuck on his forehead, was supposed to be a mind flayer! A slobbering monstrosity with a tentacled face and brainsucking tendencies it most certainly was not.

I agree with both your post and the TCs. The zombie child was downright awesome and Shathrax certainly was NOT a mind flayer.

Speaking of villains, does anybody know what that scarred, bug-guy, a.k.a "I-can-extend-my-eye-out-of-my-socket", was? I got what the three other members of the main "evil" group were (barbarian, assassin, and witch), but I don't know what the bug-guy was.

2nd best part in the film. 1st was Eleanor Gecks.

Agreed! She's incredible. Her character was indeed awesome.

I had trouble giving him a set role as well. He was evil, obviously but I'd say he would fit into a druid or wizard class, maybe some of both.

Also agreed the saving throws for this movie are Eleanor Gecks and the zombie child. I actually fell asleep before the movie came on TV and woke up when the zombie child was screaming and tottering around. It freaked me out since I had no idea what was going on but it was cool enough that I ended up watching it from the beginning.

The bug guy was their take on the 3.5e Vermin Lord, which is a prestige class that is actually in The Book of Vile Darkness source book and usually selected by either Clerics or Druids. In the film, I would say this particular Vermin Lord was Druid based with some possible Rogue levels. However, his eye trick is a Lvl 7 Sorcerer/Wizard spell called Eye of the Beholder (photo on page 95), so in gaming terms he'd have to have a bit of rank in either of those classes (possibly instead of Druid).

As for the little girl creature, I could swear one of the source books had a little girl corpse creature with a doll but I can not think of what book it was nor it's name.

{Edit} Found it. The zombie child is a Slaymate, a template in Libris Mortis.

I was playing Final Fantasy 3 at the times, but was confused when I came on here & saw the summary mention a Lord Mind Flayer. And I was wondering if I saw a different movie or they messed up.

Him being a Mind Flayer is about as horrible the growling Eye Tyrant in the 1st movie.

He was probably going to be a mind flayer originally but the cgi budget got chopped too soon so they did some makeup and slapped a jewel on his forehead and turned him into a psionic user.

reply

He is named the Mind Flayer not a Mind Flayer. So probably his Mind Flayer is a title or name he got from his evil deeds in destroying peoples minds. He after all seemed to have two slaves who repeated his words and motions of his body.

That finger-sucking zombie child was the best thing in this movie. I kept grabbing my boyfriend's hand and mimicking the sucking and he was totally freaked out. I might not get laid tonight...

I have never been a D&D fan and caught this movie by accident, but that kid was definitely beyond creepy.
