This movie is a *beep* masterpiece

I love horror movies and have been waiting for something like this for years. After Rob Zombie (in my opinion) bastardized Halloween amd Michael Myers I had no desire to see this movie. It was on Starz tonight and I was bored and I am pretty much in awe of what I just saw. Finally a horror movie that had the simplicity of what made horror movies great in the 70's and 80's. Visually it was amazing, the music and dimly lit darkness set the tone for the movie. Like I said this is a true *beep* masterpiece.

I wouldn't call it a Masterpiece but I was definitely pleasantly surprised by its Pacing, Set Design, Music and a great job by Moon-Zombie in her "Against-Type" role. It was a slow burner even though we know the underlying plot elements from the beginning, the narrative wasn't ruined and it just kept getting weirder and weirder, in a good way. I think it dragged a bit towards the end. You could tell it was Zombie's first time of really making an effort to build Suspense and mostly he succeeded. A few scenes were absolutely fantastic with disturbing imagery and a couple dream sequences that weren't as predictable as the others. Definitely my second favorite Zombie Film behind 'The Devils Rejects.' It's a weird little film that I think is the opposite of his new film '31'... LOS is great if you're not a typical fan of his work but '31' is literally only for his die hards.

This movie definitely doesn't get the credit it deserves. In the coming years I think more people will catch on. I can see it becoming a bit of a cult classic.

I agree with Lords being a masterpiece for sure. As for the Halloween films maybe it was a studio gig that needed to be done so Rob could have full control on future projects. Still I think the Halloween movies were very well done. IMO Rob and Sheri can't make a less than average film.

You people are insane. I know people have their own opinions and what not, but objectively this movie should never be considered a masterpiece. The word masterpiece should only be used on the rarest of occasions.

Whatever trips your trigger. The ambiance, the mood the directing, the story, all top notch. But I hear what your saying, I've been in your position many times, when I just could not understand how a movie even got the green light, much less made. Take care

I loved it too! Honestly one of my favorite horror movies. The sense of dread and unease is palpable, so eerie. Also, as someone who loves the city of Salem and visits often, I have to say Zombie nailed the feel and atmosphere of the city.

The only negative is that it wasn't long enough, I wanted so much more. But fabulous movie nonetheless and I'm glad it exists.
