You left out lovely animals, but, yeah, it sounds great.

The name of the non-fiction book on which it's based is The Zookeeper's WIFE, which more than implies that the woman's part in it is not overemphasized. However, if you have a reference to a source that proves your point, please share.

I'm wondering about all those other Holocaust films that "overemphasize a woman's part." The brilliant "Sophie's Choice," and....??????

"Sophie Choice" was an excelent movie.👍

"The Diary of Anne Frank".

Much better than "Sophie's Choice", IMHO, though I loved Meryl Streep's performance in that one. Sophie was a liar, Nathan was insane, and Stingo was young. How reliable are characters such as those?

"The Zookeeper's Wife" was an excellent novel, the characters were all of sound mind, the horrors of war were depicted more than the Holocaust, but the family's reaction to all the atrocities of people they knew and the animals they raised were so painful to me that I don't think I'll be seeing this movie in the theater.

This will probably be a film I will need to use the "pause" feature a lot to watch comprehensively. I had to put down the novel several times as well...in absolute disgust.

Little by little, Hollywood is showing us a little bit at a time that before September 1, 1939 people had lives. Normal everyday lives that were cut short even if they kept alive.

Hollywood loves making movies about Holocaust and I understand it, cause it was a huge tragedy. Anyway it is time now to show that also non Jewish people suffered during WWII and they had own life before the war.😐

I was so confused by that Oscar bait movie a couple years ago that checked the Holocaust box but not the nazi and period piece boxes...

How does it overemphasize her part in it when she was there the whole time and continued after her husband was imprisoned? Sounds essential to me.

Whatever you are, be a good one.
