So Bad. Such a Very Very Bad Film

Wow. And people say Lifetime movies are bad. Shockingly bad dialogue. Stunningly dull characters. Amazingly stilted plot {plot?). Ridiculously banal development. Offensively stereotypical token minority.

So very bad, on so many levels.

This wasn't stellar, yet it really was much better than a lifetime movie. That's a bit harsh. It's actually not hard to be a good film these days, being that most films today appear to be about zombies, vampires or idiots that are supposed to be funny beIng idiots.

It wasn't that bad. Definitely shouldn't have been released as a feature, but as a TV movie or even a cable TV movie it would have been fine. And it is far better than a Lifetime or Hallmark movie based on the calibre of the actors alone. I love Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline. Neithr can do no harm, IMO

reply

So sorry you feel that way, cause I loved it. It is not for the younger generation who think the world revolves around them..

I loved it too!

Glad to finally see someone who actually saw Cool Hand Luke. One of my all time favs and is on my IMDB list as an all time fav and the list has less than 40 movies on there.

Thanks for the info, I had no idea Guns and Roses had borrowed that line for their song, but I hear a lot of current pop tunes that are based on old rock or folks songs and they put that god awful electronic beat to the background or say the words over and over again for maybe 15 times...haha. Won't go down in the hall of fame.

If you like sweet darling movies and Irish ones at that, I just watched Waking Ned Devine...absolutely brilliant comedy. The scene with the 70 yr old guy riding his scooter up a hill butt nekid was sooooo funny I nearly wet my pants. I watch mostly British and Irish stuff...the older ones are the best, imo.

The song's Civil War from Use Your Illusion 2. When I first heard that dialogue I thought it was Axel Rose saying the dialogue.

understand where you're coming from, but im
55 yrs. old and sorry to say the movie was flat
out lousy, on many levels. just cause its made by
fellow geezers, it doesnt make it right!

reply

What a stupid thing to say.

This movie is about the way people actually live. Not an epic, but it gets the notes right.

Post again when you know something about human life. (It's not about the dog.)

What people? Wealthy surgeons? People with vacation homes in the Rockies? People who don't have to work to a schedule and honeymoon in the South Pacific?

I don't know how many people actually live like this. Maybe Lawrence Kasdan and his family?

All Art is pretense.

reply

I agree with you. There's no "there" there. The title made it seem ike it was going to be about a dog, or friend, or...something. Reading the comments below I thought, well, somebody liked it. But the 4.7 rating shows that they are in the minority.

reply

I could not agree more, Hilary. This goes into my top (bottom?) five all-time worst movies. For all the adverbs you cited :)

reply

This movie is not for everybody. For those of you who have a low IQ and for those of you who don't understand people (and dogs) and for those of you who don't appreciate an ensemble of very talented actors, and for those of you who don't care for heart warming stories with happy endings, then please don't bother watching this movie and please, please spare us your negative and know nothing about life comments. Thank you.

reply

This has nothing to do with having a low IQ jawebster, the film is not that good.

I love Robert Altman films, the Ivory/Merchant films like "A Room with a View, so hardly films that appeal to the Adam Sandler crowd. Despite the cast and the nice scenery this film was mediocre at best.

reply

Well, little miss priss, you don't have to be so gosh darn crude about it! I thought this was a quaint movie, but nothing I'd buy or sit through again (on purpose at least). I'm sure my IQ is higher than yours, trash mouth!

The case is closed if you ask me.
