Wenborn, a true anti-hero?

He's not a good man in any way, but he was clever, and he did solve cases.

Bullying kids, hitting his wife, slagging off old ladies, threatening everyone left and right. He did solve cases, but how many lives did he ruin in the process? Still I felt sorry for him in that final scene. Coming home with the flowers and ending up dead. In the end I could have seen several seasons with that character, the type of prick you love to hate. All thanks to a solid acting job by Charlie Creed-Miles. I would say the two best performances in this show came from him and Kirsty Bushell who played his wife. A complex, tragic and believable couple with serious issues. They were far more interesting than the Purefoy-character and his wife. Therefore I kind of felt robbed when they ended the cop husband/kleptomaniac wife-story with him just falling down the stairs. But that's life for you. (yeah yeah, I don't think she was klepto, it was just a spur of the moment thing she did out of desperation to get a reaction from her husband who didn't give her any attention anymore, very sad)
