Wenborn (spoiler?)

Wow the detective's death felt kind of random, and I even rather liked his character in a god-he's-jack@ss-but-he's-also-effective sort of way. I think it would have been better if he'd just broken his back instead. Would have served him right then, having to lay helpless in a hospital bed for several weeks/months while the other detective took over his case. If I were detective Taylor, I don't think I could ever be as mean as Wenborn, but I'd find some way to rub his predicament in his face.

Yes it did - his death was very randomn and unexpected. Loved Charlie in this...he was so unlikable. Great performance.

Charlie Creed-Miles is a fantastic actor, one of the best parts of the series.
But Wenborn was a bad dude.

I felt that the Wenborn couple was by far the most realistic couple in the story, and the characters that interested me the most. So like the OP I felt a bit robbed when he just fell down the stairs like that, but at the same time, that's life in a way. Before you know it, everything changes in a split second. I like Purefoy as an actor, but I would say that Charlie Creed-Miles and Kirsty Bushell deliver the best performances of the show as the Wenborns.
