A great film

A great film with excellent acting, directing, cinematography and best of all, a touching, subtle yet very realistic portraying of all the main characters' inner feeling and their seemingly simple and ordinary lives. The contrast, both physically and mentally, between the giant and gentle Dennis and his diminutive yet extremely manipulative mother, drives the story in a wonderful pace. But of course, Dennis is the main force through the entire film. The mother character which was wonderfully played by the Danish actress is disturbingly abusive and control-freak. She is almost like an old witch to certain degree. The moment Dennis told her he's going to Germany for a contest, she left the dinner table immediately proclaimed she'd lost appetite, and the next morning, she lied in bed facing the wall, refusing to get up to give her son a proper good-bye. Toward the end of the film, she smashed everything in the 38-y-o son's room upon finding out the son's Thai girl friend is in town. I had chills upon seeing this scene. All in all, this is a great gem I am glad I finally saw it. Lastly, I enjoyed the music score by Sune Martin tremendously. Two thumbs up!

I just watched this movie on NetFlix. I probably would never have seen it elsewhere, but it was good, wasn't it?

I really enjoyed the story and the characters, but on a bit of reflection I think that any man engaged in bodybuilding would not be so controlled by his mother or so ... uh, non-worldly.

Dennis was a really good actor, as were all the others in this movie. The Thai girls were really wonderful bringing really perfect sensitivity to all their roles, and the Mother was absolutely horrid.

I cannot help but wonder what happened in the future, but I doubt there will be a sequel. Too bad. ;-)
