Glorified porn (barely)

I say barely because most porn videos are just about as good with dialog, scene set ups and story lines! The description says it is drama, romance and comedy--although I failed to see any comedy in this film. It is funny though, now that I think about it, how scarce the girls are in this college scene! And the few that are in the film are not exactly beauty queens or the wholesome type girls one might have found in 1982 Texas University, as it is referred to so safely throughout the movie. The scenes shot on the University of Texas campus in Austin are most generous however. The haircuts, clothing and music are spot on as the Brits would say, but a bit of the set was less than authentic. All in all, the film comes across as very low-budget, poorly written, and lamely directed at best. Perhaps the filmmaker achieved what he/she set out to accomplish, so full credit is given there. It was a sense of obligation to the filmmaker as artist that I see the entire film to give it a fair shot. But Longhorns was consistent to the end at least. I would not be expecting to find this on the shelves of many video stores, but perhaps it will have success as a porn video rental.
