Why was this in 3D?

The 3D didn’t enhance the experience for me at all. Snow looks kind of neat in 3D (it snowed at the end). Was that it? There was no deep-seated revelations or character arcs that were assisted by the 3D. There weren’t even wacky dollies or grandiose action sequences that could have used the 3D treatment. This movie had some sword play, but it was mostly people talking or crying. I guess until they invent the holographic movie, 3D isn’t going anywhere.

Honestly. This is not a movie you put in 3D. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this movie but it is truly baffling they decided to put this movie in 3D and not 13 Assassins instead.

reply

Yes, 13 assassins makes way more sense for 3D.

Yeah, I saw it in 2-D and it already looked dark, so I cringe at the idea of how muddy the 3-D must have made the picture look. In 2-D, the film is simply stunning to look at and I'm in agreement regarding Ebizo Ichikawa's performance. It's awards-worthy acting that won't receive any awards attention, unfortunately.

actually 3d look great, i just finish watching it, the 3d add depth to the scenery and atmosphere , brings us in the space closer, eg when u are indoors, u can sense the terrible condition of their house and grandeur of the lord's mansion....

its a keeper for me... i prefers 3d movies to add depth not gimmicky pop up like cheesy piranha 3d
