13 Assassins

Has anybody else noticed that Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai is using the same sets and the same actors as what were in 13 Assassins.

reply

Nope.
Saw them both (couple of months between the viewings) and didn't notice that.

Yeah I wish Miike would keep making these like modern Chambara films, 13 Assasins was fantastic and Harakiri (while not nearly being as good as the original) was quite good as well

Noticed it right away; it shouldn't be surprising. Given the comparisons between the 2 films, there's no need to start from scratch. I'm sure it made a lot of the pre-production process a lot easier.

Weird, I watched them both recently, well in the past few months at least, and I dunno, I guess the japanese living quarters are just kinda plain looking so I didn't pick up on it.

reply

I only noticed one actor from 13 assassins, the head of the House, but other than that no one else looked familiar.
