Needless

Ok, this is my personal opinion and i i haven't seen this one yet. But i think this remake is needless. Seeing the trailer all i thought was "why? but why?".
The original is a classic, a truly great movie, and seeing that this movie seems to follow it very closely (except now it's in *blech* 3d!) i have no idea why this movie needed to be made.

if there wouldnt have been a remake i wouldnt see the film

Very few people have seen the original. Read the professional reviews and cry! Nonetheless I was still surprised with the variations this remake added, specially by the end, so it wasn't exactly a remake like "Psycho" or "Straw dogs", which were carbon copies. In my opinion, of course.

reply

Ahh, but carbonated enough. Funny, when all the hard work's already been laid out and all ya have to do is mimic it - then claim it as your own. What I enjoyed more in the original, is the cutbacks to the courtyard, with Nakadai-san's character's sullen narrating - most hypnotic.

But no matter, the pivotal opening scene is so harrowing, no matter the version.

How stupid.

Until a movie saves the world, every movie is "needless".
You don't like it, don't watch it.
Find something important to cry about instead of whining about a "needless" movie you have no obligation to watch.

Your mewling here is every bit as bad and "needless" as the original post... but thanks for trying to bring some unneeded edge to an otherwise civil discussion.

Enjoyed the original and enjoyed the "remake." I bought it a while back but finally broke the case figure need a good movie. I will admit I did not know it was a true remake until watching it blu-ray didn't say anything about remake but thoroughly happy and enjoyed it.

Well 2 things in defense of the remake. A lot of people haven't heard of Harakiri. Sure, if you're a big samurai movie fan you probably have but it's definitely not as famous a movie like Seven Samurai. So a lot of people are going to watch the original because of the remake. Also, some people just can't stand old black and white movies and would miss out on the great story of Harakiri entirely without the remake.
