You gotta be kidding me...!!!

So this is part 3? Why Tokyo? not that there's anything wrong with it.

reply

No it seems like a Japanese sequel to the first movie or you can just call it a remake.

DAMN!

I like this. It makes me think of the late 70s and Dawn of the Dead. Here in the US, it was obviously Dawn of the Dead and a sequel to Night of the Living Dead. In Italy, Dawn of the Dead was distributed and released as "Zombi." Italy then came up with their own sequel called Zombi 2 (in the US it was released as Zombie).

Here, Japan is releasing their own sequel to the first Paranormal Activity. It's pretty cool and down the line, it will get it's own placement in the the PA lore.

is it gona be anime?

I seen't you rip a mans jawbone off! I SEEN'T IT!

reply

It is not a remake. it is actually a sidequel. katie's whereabouts are hinted in the film, and she is the reason why the haunting moved into Tokyo.

So I read spoilers as to what happened with the girl's accident, and I have to wonder - is the story considered part of the canon? If so, they're gonna have a hard time explaining Paranormal Activity 3...

reply

From what I understand it's an "Unofficial sequel." I could be wrong on this bit but even if it is going to part of the series I'm sure the makers are going to find a way to bring it all together. :D

I get it up, I get it up in the dark, I make her feel I'm not a holy man

I've seen 2 places that have said it is not canon and 1 place that has said that it is. One of the arguements for why it is canon is the fact that it was released by paramount, who produce the other PA movies. Some have said that if it wasn't canon, it wouldn't have been endorsed by paramount. Others have said that it was made as a spin-off exclusively for Japanese audiences, so its impact on the US story line is insignificant. I think it is kind of like what we did to the Ring and the Grudge series. The originals were very similar, but Japanese sequals were made and American sequals were made, each spawning its own series that has little relation to the other.

PA3 --> PA1 ---> PA: TN ---> PA2
there's the chronological order

reply

That's not the chronological order, Tokyo Nights is a Sidequel, not a sequel. The order is PA3 - PA2 - PA1 - and then the last 5 minutes of PA2. Tokyo Nights doesn't belong in this timeline.

Kate is "alive" when PA 2 ends (remember the last 5 minutes of PA 2 takes place right after the end of PA 1). Do you think the demon flew back to U.S, went to the cemetery, possessed Katie's body again and went after her nephew?

In fact, if you take off the moments where the original is mentioned (witch was pretty lame btw), TN is a remake from start to finish.
