Making Paul Prenter so villainous...

Paul Prenter died in 1991 due to complications from AIDS, which I guess is why the film (with approval from the surviving band members) is free to blame him for Mercury’s hedonistic lifestyle and bad attitude, all of the friction within the band, attempting to prevent Queen from playing at Live Aid, etc.

In real life, Prenter was actually fired after Live Aid. And, while he did out Mercury as gay to a tabloid newspaper, he never participated in any kind of tell-all TV interview.
