Red buttons at Live Aid

There were 2 red switches or buttons at Live Aid that said do not touch, but they were touched by that one guy. I still cant figure out what they were for, other than to make the vocals louder.

It looked like the master fader for the entire mix. Seemed a bit foolish as it could have over modulated the sound, created feedback or damaged equipment.

Yeah, Queen's sound guy did that IRL to make the band louder than all the other bands playing.
