Zombielamd

So is this gunna be sorta like that film?

reply

it looks like. no more fresh ideas...

reply

Pretty sure Zombieland came after Shaun of the Dead. "Fresh ideas" are pretty rare now, IMHO.

Zombieland is considered by a few critics as Shaun of the Dead meets Superbad. Which I think is pretty much accurate. Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse looks like it exists in the same universe as that 2009 hit. What I wouldn't give for the main characters of the latter crossing paths with Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock at some point.

Crossovers among the zombie genre is the one thing that hasn't ACTUALLY happened yet. Kind of wished it did.

It seems many filmmakers over the years have been using George Romero's work with comedic twists. Of the few in chronological order:

Braindead/Dead Alive (1992)
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Zombieland (2009)
Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015)

Yeah.

You forgot cockneys vs zombies (2012)

Wasn't Shaun of the Dead just Dawn of the Dead meets Superbad? Shaun of the dead is funnier than Zombieland.

Those seven years of MacGyver finally payed off

reply

And Shaun of the Dead came out after Dawn of the Dead. We could go on like this all day, but all are different films only similar in the strictest sense.

Would you say that Scouts Guide was funnier than Zombieland? What's everyone opinion on that? I'm curious....

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010) beats them all....

ANYTHING is funnier than that zombieland garbage.....

your mom?

reply

Definitely. Great sense of humour, my dear old mom.

Zombieland was awesome. This movie had its moments, but Zombieland was still a funnier movie overall. Shaun of the Dead was also an awesome movie too.

Zombieland is overrated. This was better and yeah, Tucker and Dale was also better than Zombieland and this film as well.

reply

definetly not, especially beacause scouts vs Zombies doesn´t have great actors compared to those in Zombieland.

Plus zombieland was less comedy, and more action oriented

reply

I found Zombieland more entertaining. I didn't find either of them particularly FUNNY.

Rey is the lovechild of C-3PO and Chewbacca. It's obvious.

a zombie movie thats a comedy? yes. still very funny. also i loved zombieland. but add on that im a zombie lover

reply

I love zombie movies and TV shows and have an affection for the genre.

I loved Zombieland and felt this one was just OK. For me the reason is Zombieland had a better balance of pace, horror, comedy, and action. It was straightforward and focused on the plot from beginning to end. This one kept going into the cliched coming of age, horny teenager BS. That dumbed it down and slowed it down.

I absolutely loved Tuker and Dale, but it's not a zombie movie. So I wouldn't compare it to these movies like others did. It's more of a comedy "slasher film".

Btw., Warm Bodies (2013)
