Coming to Disney Channel...

For the first time since Life With Derek, it looks like Disney's porting over a Canadian show to their lineup.

FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has forged a distribution deal with Disney Channel for Fresh TV’s live-action comedy My Babysitter’s A Vampire.

The supernatural tween series (13 x 30-minutes) and accompanying 90-minute movie will launch to core teen and tween audiences on Disney-owned channels in the US, Latin America, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the Netherlands and Nordic territories.

FME holds the global rights (excluding Canada) for home entertainment and brand licensing and is looking for partners across other brand extension platforms. The series was developed by Fresh TV in association with TELETOON Canada.

IMNSHO, I don't think this series is a fit for Disney. Maybe Nick, but NOT Disney. I just read about it on Wikipedia and Disney is just trying to cash in on the Vampire craze that was reignited with Twilight (ugh). Strange that they would air this series, but they RARELY air the DCOM Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire, in October.

For current Disney, I would agree with you, but they were more willing to air shows somewhat in this vein in the 1980s and 1990s. In fact, my favorite Disney series that ever aired (so far) is one called "So Weird". I'm not sure, but I think you might be able to find some episodes on YouTube if you've never seen the series.
