This show is pretty...

Good. I have to admit, Guys & Dolls (The one with the blue-haired doll) was actually good. I really liked Blood Drive.

Yeah I'm really loving the show.

I think the power thing is because it's a genetic trait. Benny's grandma has powers so Benny has powers. Ethan...not exactly sure but I know that it triggered when he hit puberty so probably genetic as well.

I was a little confused. Why was Jane able to cast a spell? I thought you had to have the special trait like Benny to conjur spells.

Bringing back socks and sandals. What? What? What? Socks and sandals!

I'm not 100% sure (and it could change later) but there are 2 explanations I can think of:

1. Casting a spell is really as easy as opening the book and saying the spell.
2. Like Ethan and Benny, Jane has powers as well.

In the Pet Semetary esque episode Benny was able to just dump magical stuff on the grave to make the dog come back to life so maybe magic isn't inherent to the person who has powers.

On the other hand Benny just discovered he had the ability to cast spells so who knows how long he's been able to do it. He could have been able to do it since he was young but never knew. So Jane may be a wizard/earth priestess as well.

According to the Jan 4th premier of "My Babysitter's a Vampire The Movie: Behind the Scenes" on Teletoon Canada, the caption stated something along the lines of 'Apparently, anyone can cast spells".

Here's hoping someone with forethought managed to catch the whole quote! I did manage to get most of them, but I did miss a few (including this one) ><
