This show ruins the true idea of a Vampire!

The characters just pretty much act just like normal teens with fangs. Nothing special or evil about them.

As someone mentioned how sunlight doesn't bother them has got to be the biggest joke.

Sunlight didn't bother Dracula in the novel much more than it bothers me.

Some folklore vampires were said to be active from noon to midnight, which included several hours of daylight.

I believe that television tropes has a trope called "our vampires are different" 9fromother fictional vampires).

lol this show ruins the idea of vampires? I don't think anything can ruin vampires like Twilight.

From what I've seen Dusk ruins vampires even more. Fortunately there are only a few minutes of Dusk seen.

Was it "the biggest joke" in the original Bram Stoker's Dracula when Dracula could survive and even fight in sunlight? Actually, Dracula was strongest in the afternoon, at a time of, ironically, the most sunlight during most days.

Every interpretation of vampires is different. The idea of vampires burning up in sunlight is an entirely modern creation. It doesn't make it "the true idea of a vampire." Even Bram Stoker picked and chose mythological traits to create Dracula; just because his interpretation was popular, and the inspiration for the glut of vampire fiction even today, doesn't make it "true."

This is like the third thread on this subject every new one doesn't offer anything new to say...

BTVS/Angel had the best interpretation of vampires ever.

"Has anyone seen my bucket of plutonium? It's about yay big and is super radioactive."

Wikipedia has tables about vampire traits in various sources.

You can see that only SOME vampires have a particular trait you might think that all vampires must have.

And TV Tropes has a trope called "Our Vampires are different".
