Would've been a good summer show

I'm really surprised that abc didn't try this as a summer replacement for "Desperate Housewives" or "Revenge". It is a lighter show that took a while to come to its own, but it's shocking to me that GCB and DH were not flipped in the schedule for the season in an attempt to promote it or that the network didn't order a shorter episode run to reduce the reruns of other shows throughout the season and decide its fate later.
