A bad idea that got what it deserved -- cancellation

Sorry, but the show was just a stupid idea pitched by a dumbass network, based on the crappy GCB book.

"Let's offend an entire group of believers by attacking their faith and making fun of them on national television." Brilliant.

Let this be a lesson Hollywood.

Obviously the OP didn't.

you couldn't have possibly watched the show... I am a devout Christian, as are many of my friends -- and we all love GCB!! Throughout the 10 episodes that aired, not once did they mock Christians!! If anything, this show promoted good morals and provided Christian discussion points. It was also notable for showing Christians are flawed people like everyone -- the characters were so likable, and their hypocrisy was meant to just shed some light and humanize them. Not once were God or Jesus even mocked in the show!!

I was initially offended by the premise of the show... like you, I thought it was yet another 45 minute mudsling against Christians. It's obvious though that the show doesn't take itself seriously and that there are a few good representations of what Christians ought to be (like the Pastor).

It's a great show, a guilty pleasure and I'm sorry to see it go.

What I don't get is how you Christians can offend so many different groups of people over centuries and yet you all throw a fit about a TV show because the title had the words "christian" and "bitches" in it.

I'm glad you took a chance on the show and clearly saw the shows true premise but by you admitting you were initially offended just proves the mentality out their of "believers" is seriously skewed.

My take is this, Christians need to get over themselves. You are 1/3 of the planets population. You aren't even the majority (even though you've tried your hardest for a couple thousand years to shove it down others throats; hence the "missions" to the third world countries to "spread the word of Jesus" where little to no education is present thus preventing free and independent thinking). Just believe what you want to believe and turn the channel if you don't like a show. Quit trying to make your inane beliefs sacred to the rest of us. We don't care anymore. Live and let live.

The fact that many so-called Christians are gloating because of this shows cancellation is vomit inducing.

You're assuming that the issue is with the name. I can't speak for others, but my initial issue with the show had more to do with Carlene and company quoting scripture while simultaneously being gigantic douchebags.

I'm not sure what you mean about the mentality of believers. I feel the same way when I see 'black' shows that seem to focus on black stereotypes. I feel the same way about shows that negatively portray my hometown (DC). You hate to see anything that's supposed to be representative of yourself be negative. That's indicative of any individual that takes pride in who or what they are.

Keep in mind, I'm not a protestant Christian (Roman Cath), so we're responsible for a lot of atrocities that happened during the middle ages. We're also responsible for a lot of freedom of thought during those same times - much of what you appreciate even now are the fruits of Monk labors. What's more, there are just as many missions to third world countries where evangelisation isn't the point (building homes in Mexico, digging wells in Africa).

My point is, I understand your frustrations with Christians that have a problem with the show but don't attack the entire group for the actions of a few. I know a LOT of Christians who enjoyed the show as much as I did, some even without the initial negative reaction.

Yeesh.

The only thing you got right is that ABC IS a dumbazz network.

Just cuz u think my opinions r wrong doesn’t magically make ur’s right. Stupid trollz...

The OP is a flippin' moron.

The show wasn't making fun of religion, the religious, and had absolutely nothing to do with religion whatsoever.

Their drama just happened to take place in church and that's what you chose to cry over. Get a life, toad.

I really think a lot of people were upset over the title for no reason. A woman can be a b.... And a Christian. The ladies all tried to be good Christians but couldn't get past being tortured in high school. They're I'll will toward Amanda had nothing to do with their faith. Kristen Chenowith is a great example of how the ladies tried to be good Christians. She prayed for forgiveness when she was weak and listened to her heart on occasions when she felt she was going against God's will. Take the time she was upset about stealing from Amanda because it would mean breaking a commandment. I think if more of the offended people had even given the show a chance they would have seen the two things (Christian and b....) had nothing to do with one and other.

I like you. When the world is mine, your death shall be quick and painless. -Stewie
