Possible reason for lack of viewers?

Perhaps it's just me, but I felt that overall the show was well cast and the supporting characters were likeable, but the lead Amanda (Leslie Bibb) was overtly bland and uninteresting. I feel like had they cast a more charismatic actress for the part, it would have drew in more viewers....?
I actually found myself liking her nemesis Carlene(Kristin Chenoweth)far more than her

reply

I think it would have done better if they would have aired it in between Once Upon A Time and Desperate Housewives.

reply

Yeah that would have been much smarter to put it in the middle.

reply

Yeah, I never liked Bibb much as an actress, and the role of Amanda was just so boring! Maybe someone else could have made it better or maybe some better writing would have... I liked the other characters tho'... and I will surely miss this show if it doesn't come back!

I agree! I think it was more of the way the main character was written. She was too "perfect" and there was no way to relate to the character. Yes, she lost her money and had to move in with her mother but her character didn't really have depth. The other characters, though funny, had internal struggles. She wasn't flawed enough. My, as the viewer, could really relate.

reply

You seriously don't think Amanda was flawed enough? I thought she was pretty flawed and I could easily relate to her. Her flaws might not be considered flaws to someone like you, but to me she had flaws. Her biggest flaw was being too nice and trusting.

I think they thought GCB would hold on to Desperate Housewives' audience, but obviously it failed to do so. They probably should have put GCB between OUAT and DH, but sadly they didn't!

reply

Exactly. Most people who stay up till 10pm to watch something on tv on a Sunday night, do so to see something they have already become accustomed to. I try to avoid staying up to watch new shows because I if I enjoy it, I will faithfully watch it. I did watch GCB and got hooked, I'm sad it's cancelled without ABC even trying to save it.

She was definitely the weakest character. But big deal. The rest of the cast was so strong! I kind of thought the same thing about Ally McBeal and Meredith on Gray's Anatomy. And still those shows carried on with a good supporting cast.

reply

I was just curious who was been referred to as the weakest character of the show. I would guess that would mean Amanda but I actually liked her character since she really was trying to be a better person but still seen as the bitch back from high school.

how would one person make a difference?
other than that how was the show on a whole?

Yes i definitely agree with you.

See, I liked this show for the first few episodes but I ended up tuning out because it was too over the top and honestly - I was mostly put off by all singing.

The show lacked mystery and was almost more like an hour-long sitcom than a series, where each conflict gets resolved at the end of the ep.

reply

Still think ABC should have given it a second chance and aired it after Once Upon A Time. Revenge is doing better in the ratings now that it is airing after Once Upon A Time and surprise the show now airing in GCB's old timeslot (666 Park Avenue) has been canceled.

reply

There was no reason to cancel GCB. I love this show. It is hysterical. Offending people please.
