Stellar Performances

Lea Thompson and John Shea both give stellar performances that should have attracted a couple of Oscar nominations. My only gripe is the ending but that is do minor as the movie is absolutely flawless. Everything from the acting to the colors of the sets are perfect. My only wish is that this film had more distribution so that more people had the chance to see it in the big screen. Would love to see a sequel to this film.

I enjoyed it, too. I loved the extended dialogues. Very well written and a nice change of pace from movies reliant on CGI, car crashes, and lots of jerky camera motion.

Ending was painful but I have no gripes about it - well, a one-night stand would work. But Shea's character (Robert) is right that it's too late for anything permanent. Emily is just being carried away with her emotions and unrealistic dreams, tormented as she is by her current dreadful marriage. But the odds of these two having a permanent relationship is surely close to zero.

Not sure why you'd like to see a sequel. Do you want to see the naive daughter's marriage fall apart? (That prediction from Robert seems like a sure thing, alas.)
