Could have been really good, but an utterly wasted concept

I really liked the idea of the characters on the plane having to answer questions about there personal life and getting embarrassed talking about them out loud, or how they brag and lie about who they really are (just like on facebook) and how they have such *beep* up desires in reality, like the guy who watches child porn and the girl who re-watches a snuff video, of which you never expect if you saw them. The Q & A parts of the film were really clever, and I was hoping it would continue more in that direction. For a moment or two it actually got quite subversive regarding what we watch and post online, how we take for granted our own personal privacy and how everything is tracked.

But then it gets silly when that alligator man goes OTT (I won't give anything away) and as for who is behind it all makes very little sense whatsoever (plot holes galore, a superhuman like villain), and turned into Saw on a Plane.

Anyone else agree?

THE GREATEST ENEMY OF ART IS CENSORSHIP.

if i were the movie's creators, i'd allow hollywood to remake the film, with the last 45 minutes of the movie changed or improved.

Or, "Saw" can do this and call it the Facebook edition.

Agree, the introductory quizzes to the game were quite tension-building. I particularly enjoyed "Round 2".

Can't say I share the same enthusiasm for the latter part of the movie.

reply

Yes I agree the first 45 mins was interesting, but the last half of the movie was kinda disappointing

Try drinking bleach!
Why?
Its good for you, plus its fun!

It's almost as if the filmmakers run out of ideas, they had a really good main idea - bad crap that happens on social media sites, make a decent start but then fall flat on their face.

reply

Agreed.... the concept could have worked if it had some proper development... but instead we just got a formula cliche-filled derivative "people stuck together in close confines" horror flick... and it wasn't even a very good one.

It's more than that, it's the fact that round 3 made 0 sense.
First he tells them that he is going to kill their loved ones for tasks...
Do we even know what the tasks were?

Max - > Kill someone, no idea who
Dave -> Find out Max's real identity (How did he even know it wasn't the real Max?) Then kill Max
Jo -> Kill Max
Gwen -> Kill Dave? Then bang Max. Then kill Max

Max was already poisoned by Jo in a seriously obvious manner. So why send everyone out to kill him? He knows he'll die anyway and even if they don't, the plane crash will.

Also, why on earth is he so scared that Max would use the laptop? What could he possibly do? Hack the plane? That's absurd. Does the plane even have a wifi? Couldn't he just shut that down?

Just saw it on Netflix and I have to agree. The movie was pretty good for a while, then it became "Saw on a Plane". I really liked the part where they were answering the questions, that was quite tense, actually. But then... it tried to be Saw. Even the Alligator head became completely silly at that point because it was just a Jigsaw knock-off.

I wish they focused more on the questions and their online history, building up the tension, until it's finally revealed that they were wall watching the same live stream at some point. Then boom, plane crashes, they die, the end.
