Why do the filmmakers not talk about his?

Every once and awhile I listen to the Movie Crypt Podcast with Adam Green and Joe Lynch and they oft refer to this film as "the movie that shouldn't be mentioned". What happened? They seemed so happy with the final product on the DVD commentary. What went wrong and where?
