Why did Joe dump liquor and blow smoke...(spoilers)

Seen this movie a couple times now, I really liked it, I have a couple questions though...

Why did Joe pour liquor around the corpses mouth? Then he lights a cigarette (or was that a joint)? and blows smoke in her face as well. My friend and I were speculating that maybe it would fit with the police's theory that she got wasted, passed out, and somehow burned alive in her car? I don't know...what do you think?

Am I missing something?

Right. He wanted to make it look like an accident. She got drunk, was smoking, dropped the cigarette and the car caught on fire.

After an explosion and fire, not sure how much alcohol and pot smoke would be left for testing.

Yep, that's what I thought too, and the poh-lice certainly won't go to great length to find out what happened…
