It should have been more violent.

I was expecting killer joe to be brutal and show how he kills people but it didn't show much. Still an intense movie though. Some memorable scenes.

Which version did you watch?

I saw the chicken bone blow job scene. I think it was the normal one.

There seems to be two versions. One is rated R, and the other is "unrated" even though the trailer mentioned an "NC-17" rating. I have the "unrated" version on DVD, which I am assuming was the NC-17 version. Did the version that you saw have scenes with complete nudity? For example, towards the beginning of the movie, the step mother answered the door with her vagina area sticking out for everybody to see. Does that sound familiar to you? That version got pretty violent in the chicken scene. This is the DVD that I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A3K2PZA/

I just thought it would show more of his killings. They didn't show how he does it. I saw vag.

It wasn't a slasher-type of movie. It was more neo-noir. If we'd have seen the earlier killing, the final scene wouldn't have been as shocking. That was when we saw how intense Killer Joe got.

Considering the rating of it, you think they would show it. It is called killer joe.

I guess that you do have a point. I found out about the movie because of it being on a "neo-noir" film list, so maybe that's why I wasn't surprised, but it could probably be surprising if somebody goes in without knowing like you did.

Even L.A Confidential was more violent.

I don't know what to say then. I think that the director was hoping for an "R" rating, and the film that he made had to be censored to get that "R" rating, which I'm sure he wasn't thrilled about. I doubt if adding even more violence would have helped him to get the "R" rating. Most family movie theaters don't like to play "NC-17" rated movies.

Yeah censorship is dumb.

I thought it was still pretty violent overall. But yeah I’d agree that would have been pretty awesome.

I think it was the right amount of violence

The film was originally 2 hours and 10 minutes long.
