Beautiful

Just watched this on tv. I honestly started to watch it coz there was nothing else onsoni thought I'll give it a bash and actually expected to get bored after 10 mins.
Well, it kept me watching all the way through. It was touching, beautiful , funny, sad.
Hope it gets showed every Xmas as part of British tradition just like The Snowman.

You may be right but I don't really see this as a Christmas traditional airing. Though I can see this repeated on the BBC channels and it would be ideal for the Drama channel weekend viewing if BBC sell it on.

It was like a gentle 90-minute version of the famous Up!'married life' sequence.

i agree I thought it was absolutely lovely and it made me very choked up at the end- probably having lost both of my parents.
I didn't watch it until the New Year but it was definitely one of my top 3 programmes of the festive period

This was so beautiful - like another poster I thought I'd give it a try not expecting to enjoy it but I was hooked from the first minute - a joy.

Poignant in the extreme. A wonderful tale of two ordinary peopl, little people, living through some momentous times. Refreshing, honest and authentic tale given life by the voices of the actors and the charming animation. Like much of Briggs's work it did not shy from difficult moments and the demise of Ethel and Ernest was heartfelt.

Ever tried, ever failed?
No matter.
Try again, fail again.
Fail better.

Agreed.
